Sundowner

Don't know much about fords but this is a possible sundowner with 351. Good price for someone down there.

Looks like it needs quite a bit of work, it is not a Sundowner though, they only made falcon Sundowners in the XC and XD models.

Whats the go with the tailgate, i thought they came with doors? Wouldn't be many 351 XE panelvans around? as i said i don't know fords, did own one once. XD S pack ute

Could you even get a 351 in an XE van? Probably been put in.

I thought only ESP sedans got the 351 in XE?
They were S-PAC in XD/E not GS too. Had the little stripe up the side with 12 hole wheels and sports dash etc.

No sundowners in the XE range and 351 came out with standard in sedans not only ESP
remember the chase cars were all 351s the cops used

Chase cars were Fairmont based, XE you could only get a V8 in ESP Fairmont. Fords have always produced V8s in GT or Fairmont, Falcons were always 6 cylinder right from the XR onwards. If that XE van has been registered with the 351 in it you could get it registered again with no hassles, if not it would need engineering.

Are you sure about that Dick because all V8 Fairmont's were autos afaik
some chase cars were manuals 4 speed and had vinyl interior so they could not have all been Fairmont's based
And im pretty sure some XE Spak were 351s as well

They did a story on XE in AMC. As far as I know only ESP had 351. Pretty sure they came as a manual and were used for the police.
XD had more options for 351.
I didn't think 351 was a common option for commercials in XD and I XE I think you were hard pressed to even get 302.
