    Cool Modern EFI systems

I guess this is aimed at the guys that aren't doing a factory spec resto.

For the guys & gals that would to bring their old motor into the future, but without all the headaches associated with programs etc etc...this looks like a great set up. Can't imagine an EFI system that is easier to install!!!

And theres a few on the market.....

Edelbrock E-Street EFI ...good for 500-600hp

    FAST EZ_EFI 2.0 ......good for 1200hp

MSD Atomic EFI ...up to 600hp

    Holley Terminator EFI ....500hp

Theres many pros and few cons to these systems....eventually would pay themselves off!!!

Anyone interested in these systems? I'm thinking of biting the Edelbrock bullet

    Thoughts?

My panel beater was just telling me about these systems recently and I am considering running one on my Dodge Fargo they look impressive will have to do some research. Would suit my application as I am a little pressed for room as well.

Hide as much as you can then cover it with a standard air cleaner may have to modify the base for the fuel rails but it would give you the best of both worlds I recon.

That's what Holden did with the EFI 304 and 350 Holden V8. These are so cheap and easy to fit not sure why you'd risk EPA fines on HX-WB by using aftermarket stuff.

Have to agree. Seems the fuel injected 5 litre has been relegated to history by the imported chev LS things. The fuel injected Holden motor was a great thing. Already proven and factory developed.

Yeah but not everybody wants an injected 5.0. As for my needs....i like the look of the old school air cleaner on top.....the bunch of bananas manifold is not a work of art in my eyes. So as i'm going the 454 route, these systems are ideal. To get a reliable 500+hp out of a 5.0, its life span would be dramatically reduced. Going for a well built big block makes much more sense...to me anyways. All the parameters are there on a touch screen tablet, which is a hell of a lot better than having a laptop computer to tweak and monitor your settings.

That is OK for a Q but you can't do it for a HX-WB. You don't have to run bananas, you can run a traditional valley and a 4 barrel throttle body with the Delco ECU, but for 500hp short of stroking big you need to look elsewhere as mentioned. Delco tuning can be done on a tablet too.

I've tried getting hold of that Kalmaker bloke to see what sort of tuneability I'll be able to achieve using an 808 Delco but he is very elusive to catch up with (read it has been over 6 months and I've still heard nothing back after repeated attempts to contact him). CHev Offroad do a stroker/alloy heads/manifold/cam/memcal package but by the look of it they rely heavily on the ECM to self learn and the O2 sensor to pick up the loose ends, which to me doesn't give me the fine tuning ability I want with mine. Is what you are referring to something like a Quarter Horse (Ford) set up Byron - ie; a eprom soldered onto the board or are you referring to a memcal writing device?
    Nunc est bibendum...

Have a look at what Craig Moates does, I think it is www.moates.net. You put in an 808 (actually a later version with higher speed coms), I think it is an Ostrich, and do online comms with it using Tunerpro or other such software. You just use a Windows Tablet rather than a notebook.
