Thread: how not to fix your mates steering column

    Ahh, I knew one was longer or shorter.... just got em back to front....

    OK.... HX shaft in a WB column?????? I recall you saying something about WB steerings columns being longer.....:eek:

    :errf:...not me.....columns are all the same length hq to wb...

    it appears once the whole story came out that it was a wb ute,hence the body put on a hx chassis after it came to a sudden stop...impact on the right rail pushed the steering box back which pushes the intermediate shaft back and punches it into the column which in the hx to wb the bottom plate is welded to...this punches the floor up and the column collapses..
    therefore making the distance between the floorplate where it bolts up and the underside of the column shorter...thats why the good column would not fit...the floor was punched up a couple of inches..

    Ah damnit I was assuming that there was no accident damage lol. Now its making sence. =) Which is great now I can sleep!

    i tried to give you the hint by saying wb ute body on hx chassis...why else would you swap the chassis out...:Chin:

    ahhhhhhh yes that would make sence.... why would you fit a non RTS chassis to an RTS ute. going backwards. lol.

    To put a HX van shell on rego'd 350 chev which was a WB ute.:hiney::hiney:

    no.....i put a wb van shell on a wb ute chassis with 350 chev that was ute but then turned it into an hx to look at but its still regoed as a wb but now a panelvan ........you should know that...:eek:
