Those camera cars are the worst of the lot. Hiding in the dark with lights off. They don't save one life. Our money would be better spent employing those people to pick chewing gum off the footpath.
What a cop out . There is no excuse for speeding. ' the worst of the lot. Hiding in the dark' give yourself an uppercut. I've been done a few times when I was younger and guess what, I was speeding. My fault!! Not the copper 'hiding in the dark.'
Maybe you should hand your licence in. 'They don't save one life' do you really believe that, really.?
Some roads might be safe to do well over 100 kph but are all cars and drivers.? Never ever ever will anyone convince me that it's revenue raising. Speeding is voluntary and actions have consequences. You won't draw me into any further argument about this. My opinion only. ( and the authorities)

With you on that Dave. I'm not saying I don't speed or do stupid stuff, but if caught I cop it on the chin. There are plenty of people out there who struggle to control a vehicle at car park speeds, so laws need to factor in for the lowest common denominator. Unfortunately, those that are capable need to be lumped in along with those who aren't.
There's a section of Freeway coming into Canberra about 8km long that I regularly travel. Nobody speeds on it, yet every 500metres you see signs of cars leaving the road and going into the bushes or the wire rope. This is on a straight stretch of the best road around.

Ah you didn't even read the post properly. Not police hiding in the dark(which they are not allowed to do in NSW) but camera cars. They achieve nothing. They do not slow anyone down! The driver does not even know they have been caught. They just continue along speeding.
As far as my point on speed limits being incorrect I will expand. There is a general speed limit on rural NSW roads of 100. Some of these roads are correctly set at that speed. Lots of traffic. No fog lines etc. then you get roads with broken edges, uneven surfaces, b double rated, busy truck roads, also 100 limit. Then you get another road, fog lines, straight, low traffic, good surface, also 100. Then you get a busy road, bends, trucks, b doubles, road trains, set at 110.
Then you tell me that all these roads are set at 100 and I am in the wrong if I say a camera car is hiding in the dark and it books someone doing 65 accelerating out of a 60 zone into a 100
    Zone?
I am sorry but I find all of the above illogical but sadly true, but the way the RTA and politicians try to appear to be doing something about safety is to book old mate with a camera car?
How about fixing the bloody roads? We don't all do 20000k a year in town. Some of us take on these rediculously maintained and speed rated roads all our lives. 80000 plus km every year. That camera car hasn't helped one bit.
