    First I have seen of this thread. Just a couple of points to consider;
Sandman only is impossible, there is no way of proving if some cars are Sandmans or not and you can imagine the possible legal implications of this when it comes to an insurance claim.
I really think you will struggle with committee numbers in all states. It's a fairly small target group. You really need to open it up to Sandman owners and welcoming all owners of Holdens of whatever series the committee votes on.

I think you may be right regarding committee members.....i see a few states will hardly be represented. I doubt there will be a N.T chapter for example.

The idea (as i see it) is to have the forum as the hub of communication...much as it is now. But have the 'club' linked but seperate. In a way its expanding the forums reach.

What are we aiming for here? examples...
    -Organise club cruises

-Have your Sandman put on club rego using the club as a signatory body. Where each state must obide by each states motoring laws (each state has diferent rules and regs for registration. Working with government regs instead of challenging them)

-have membership fees offset the running of the forum (seeing how Blocker has always foot the bill...id say its about time were the people help out with that. No he doesnt make anything off merch sold in the past)

-How about all HQ-WB Sandmans (stock, modified & replicas) as the main focus and other vehicles can be put on club rego to keep with the family orientated vibe? Saves people having to be in multiple car clubs for different vehicles.

    -Charity events and fundraising

-Have sponsors come on board eg Rare Spares, Classic Oz Wreck, Kingswood Country.....etc etc

    Thoughts??

Could I suggest the following to kick it off:

    * A social family focus without onerous requirements of anything more than one attended function/run/show per year. A function/run/show could be as simple as a local branch organising a dinner get together for members and their friends/family to attend.

    * Open to all with an interest (like the website), rather than just a plain "owners" club - however would be open to what the general feeling is in so far as vehicle registrations go.

    Over to you folk...
We did this in 2010 when the forum first kicked off. We are know socialising regularly with Ozbox, Gaddy, Qset, Qup, Absinth (everyday) elangtlywasted, Andrew Davis, ambientgoat, siegs, sometimes Blocker, Wbute, Playwme, Agro, Stormbringer, skid, ski man and the guys from toowoomba. I have met everyone on the forum who are at functions. It's a great idea to try and get together we are like minded and have something in common panel vans and be they sandmans or not they are all special.
HZ Jasmine Yellow Windowless Sandman, now being driven everywhere and is finished!
HZ Madeira Red Windowless sandman now Sold to Bigrob
HX Mandarin Red Sandman Ute finished, and club registered
1979 HZ malachite windowless van with 308 5spd, all chromed up and shiny finished and named "The Player"

Great idea! A panel van club (and utes of course) with the focus on Sandman. Those of us that may not have one yet may have one soon and those that have one may sell it, but remain a member.

Fans of Sandman, rather than Sandman owners club.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

What is the actual point of this club? What does it aim to offer?
I think you may find there is a lot of input on here for information but that may not translate into a lot of people who want to join a club.

I think a club is simply an extension on the web site.
While there may be the benefits of club registration for vehicles, it may also offer such things as an on going newsletter / email with up coming events etc.
While the website can offer almost instant and numerous answers to questions I think that the club side would be a more social side to the passion.
This may in fact enhance the website with people gathering in larger groups of utes and vans attracting more interest and maybe drawing more people to the site.

Clubs are not for everyone, in fact my experiences with them have been less then pleasant, however I did meet more people with similar interests and learned a lot from their experiences.

All good questions. The idea is floating around for a while so provide some input as we develop some structure and direction.

I reckon thats a pretty good summary wombat. Yeah ive also had some unpleasant club experiences, but on the whole, this place has some great people where everyone ive met has been really cool and friendly....so hopefully that will make a great club.

Being an 'extension' of the forum, it would lean towards the Sandman Owners Club title rather than the fans of sandman one. Like wombat said, it makes it the social aspect of the forum......im just amazed there isnt a Sandman Car Club in general...seems to be a club for every other make and model out there. Blocker said theres a Drifter club too...imagine how small would that club be??? So size of the club really shouldnt have any bearing in changing it to suit a larger crowd.
In terms of getting cars on club rego, that would be a bonus.
