    It would also pay to replace the hoses that go from your calipers to the chassis...

    Thanks Frosty,but I couldn't sell you a van with bad brakes,and thanks everyone for your replies.It looks like it needs a new booster, seems to be a common thing for me,I had to change the booster on the HJ when I bought that too,not a job I am looking forward to

    If the booster had a leaking diaphragm the engine would be running like crap because of the massive vacuum leak. Check the vacuum hose running from the intake manifold to the booster. It could be all balled up inside giving you a really hard pedal.

    Replaced the hose on Saturday,van is running well
