I have a set of 8" wide GTS wheels that I bought recently from Taily (thanks Mate), and have had them sandblasted and powdercoated at a local place.
I spent ages picking the silver colour that I thought looked as close to original and was pretty sure I got it right.
I picked them up yesterday and they've done a great job.....they look like new.....except they are not even close to the right colour. They look like the "colourbond" colour "shale grey". I'm so disappointed as I wanted a nice strong durable finish.
I paid a lot to have them done but there is no way I'm wasting a masking kit on them and spraying the insides so I'm thinking about painting them silver myself, then doing the masking and inside colour.
My questions to those of you that may have experience painting are;
Can I paint straight over powdercoating?
If so, what type of prep work and what type of paint is best?
I'm pretty handy with a spraygun (or cans), but am worried about the silver not adhering well and peeling off when I remove the masking kit.
Enamel or acrylic? Any other tips?
