In terms of Holdens, those mentioned were still the collectable cars, the prices paid 20 years ago for top of the range Aussie muscle was still expensive compared to a base torana or a kingswood, which could be had for a grand or 2.

I think what you're asking is what about exotica, say an e type Jag. They boomed in the late 80's, and they've come off their peak, but still desirable, and always will be in my view. Or Ferrari 250 GTO, were collectable 20 years ago, and continue to smash records at Auctions (got $20 mill spare?).

I personally wonder about the 1920/30s cars in original nick (ie not hot rodded), there will be soon no one left with any connection to them, and in original nick they are certainly a compromise to drive, unlike say a sandman which you can, if you wish still easily do a capital city run overnight (eastern states anyway!!) in terms of reliability and speed.
