    Mook's HQ daily

    image.jpg

    Ok here we go...

I just recently picked up this HQ, i was told it had a 253 but it turned out its a 308, so that's a bonus.

I'm going to patch it up to a point where it can be safely driven and use it as my daily.

This will involve rust repairs to the plenum, floor and parcel shelf.

I also plan to remove the gas system as it is out of date and will help eliminate any future problems that I won't be able to solve.

I have recently purchased a mig welder and will be tackling the repairs myself.

Each night I'll be chipping into it so hopefully regular updates.

    Advice will be much appreciated!

Can you send me the ID details for the database? Plus the firewall number if it is a Pagewood example or cowl number if early Elizabeth?

Hey Mook. Only advice from me is re the Mig. I had to convert mine to a gas setup and drop to 0.6mm wire when i had a go. I also found i was too fast a lot of the time and poured too much heat into the steel. I ended up sacrificing an old door to practice on until i had the technique sorted.

Cheers Damian. I've just got a role of 0.6 and a bottle of argoshild so we should be in business!

To be expected after the windscreen removed...

Gas system almost out, trying to identify this holly carb so I can try to get a rebuild kit.

Looks like the typical #1850-1 600cfm Vacuum Secondary Holley.
You will find the part number on the front of the choke tower. It will read "List XXXX-X"

That glued on thing is obscuring it somewhat!
