Did a revs check on my hq's vin came back with no info or history. Does anyone know of a way to check for background on the old rigs?

A revs check will only tell you if there is money owing on it or if it is on the right off registrar. They can't tell where it was sold new or how many owners it's had. Try tracing it back through the guy you bought it off and who they bought it off and so on.
If your car was registered at anytime prior to 1980 in victoria....
Go to www.aomc.asn.au
You pay a fee and give them your vin number and if it was registred in victoria they will search the vic roads paper archive which they hold and they will give you the registration number history plus he engin number.... This is how i confirmed the engine number in my HQ was th original as my car was registered from new in victoria with the engine in it.... Holden records did not list the engine number so it was good info fo me
Cheers Al

Go to the link for engine and registration number records on the bottom right of the home page
Great info! Does it tell you who first registered the vehicle?
No names just dates the car was first registered in victoria... Dates if the rego plates changed and what to.... And the engine number and any changes to engine numbers
