Those ones like the LC GTR that end at 99cents have had the listing pulled before it's finished. Instead of showing the last bid it reverts back to what the start price was.
Most of these guys are just trying to gauge interest and possible price, or they've sold outside of eBay. If they get delisted then they've possibly had a buyer pull out or they're trying to hype up the item until it gets near the price they want.

If you want to buy a car that's on eBay and is going to be popular, call up straight away, go check it out and make an offer. Preferably do it all before the bidding takes off, otherwise the seller is likely to run with the auction if they think there might be a bidding frenzy at the end. I bought my HQ coupe after seeing it on eBay. I was there and making a deal before it had any bids and got it for a good price. Seller told me later on that after he pulled the listing he had about 20 messages saying they would have given him X amount of dollars (most more than I paid). He replied back to them "where were your bids then?"
