Thanks Robbo and Valencia. Yeah a fair bit of work ahead, but i can see some daylight coming now. I know i can get the chassis to a running state and can now also finish off a bunch of interior items so they are ready for when the body is back. Cheers

A win tonight! I've been trying to nut through Holden schematics and get the seat controls working. Pretty easy to work out the main power supply circuits into the seats, but damned if i could get them to operate. Kept staring at the schematics and then spotted another sneaky +12VDC supply going into the seat memory controller and hooked it up as well. Bingo, seats go up...seats go down... That makes 3 x separately fused power supplies to the drivers seat to make it work...so far!

So got stuck again tonight, trying to make the rear seat entertainment screens turn on and eventually got bored with that. Ended up striping the VF instrument cluster for a better look. May be onto something combined with the WB Statesman dash fascia...

The instrument cluster from the vf with the WB facia looks great and promising.

Did you buy a vf wreck? a few dollars worth of trim there! the seats are going to be great especially with the rear entertainment units in the back of the seats. the door trims are going to be the challenge, they will require a lot of modifying or used for parts. great job!

Hey HJsandman75. Yeah it was a VF Caprice V (think its called a WN) and i purchased the seats, door trims and gauge cluster. I was only after the front seats and for a few extra bucks, decided to grab the cluster and see if it could fit in behind the old fascia. The door trims wont be used but i will look to see if any parts off them might be useful. May end up reselling the trims and back seat.

Been tinkering with the cluster tonight and got it mostly stripped down, so just pondering if its feasible to force the new bits into the old WB dash. Not so sure at the moment, but got some pics, so can share tonights activities here. Discovered that the gauge motors are surface mounted stepper motors but not sure if they can be easily hacked for old school stuff.

Quick little update today. In an effort to get to Summernats, we've decided to bring the body home and run amok fitting out the car before returning everything for paint. Thought i'd better cover off the last items down the back of the chassis before the body goes on, so today i filled the diff with oil and strange enough...found it very satisfying!

That's a pretty shiny backing plate Damian, you could comb your hair using it for a mirror.

Nice spot axistr! The backing plate is the only item on the chassis that's been finished in gloss black. Everything else is in satin black and yes, i was enjoying the shininess of it today!

    Cheers, Damo
