Thanks wbute. I read your info from the Larry O'Toole book and that sounds fine to me. Decided to cut it all out, across the floor of the sump. I just left the oil scraper and side of the windage tray, kind of like a second oil scraper.

BTW, here's a pic of the Commodore sump that came off this engine (VR SII). It seems to have windage trays as well.
