Hey axistr...just spotted your message, good bump. Ummm, well the shop is making some headway on the van, but no major pics or developments to report yet. Maybe some small updates could include these items...

Bonnet hinges have been delivered, modified (on passenger side to avoid hitting the A/C box) and fitted just this week. Actually now that I think of it, that bonnet hasn't seen the van in about 8 years...so maybe some good progress in my mind...

The wife has picked the interior colours and materials...she got me started on this project originally, so got to pick the colours. To match the dash colour we went with deep grey leather hides for seats, console and trims...almond green alcantara for roof lining and other trim bits and finished off with forest green thread for stitching...

In other news, i went down to the Mornington Peninsula last night and showed my 1 tonner at an event. Was a nice night out...

    Enjoy and happy easter...

    Hello...I have an update today.

The trim shop is getting into things and sorting out the foundations of the interior. They are up against it with a slightly unreasonable customer (what do you mean 10 inch subs in the front doors are impractical? I just want 10 inch subs in the front doors etc...). But they have done well to move things forward after getting me to agree that dreams and reality don't always meet. So the interior sound deadening is now on the walls and roof, the rear roof has a frame and timber base, and the front passenger roof has got a fiberglass plug made so that it stays to the contour of the actual roof. This keeps things very high as I want to install a roof console above the driver and passenger with additional A/V items in it. Will try and fit a tape deck, spectrum analyser and perhaps some extra controls and lighting in it as well. In the front engine bay, things are not yet advanced enough to warrant a report today but I'm hoping for some items to get finished in the next few weeks. Anyway...here's some pics...

Rear speaker locations locked in. There will be a total of 8 x 5 or 6 inch co-axials mounted in a long speaker boxes along the tops of the walls (4 x each side).

The scuff plates have been modified so they will run the entire length of the floor and butt up against a panel behind the seats. Manual handbrake is being removed and replaced with electric version...

And now the fiberglass roof plug. It has been finished and trimmed to size with a steel skeleton frame above it so the roof console can hang safely.

And finally...resurrecting the A pillar trims so they can be used again...

Thanks axistr, yes well I figured...what the hell at this stage, may as well go silly on it. Also, please note that all electric handbrake work is inspired by you and our Torana....

Both my Torana's have a lot of tech added features. Most people that wander around my cars at the occasional car shows don't pick them. I like creature comfits that aren't to in your face and take away the original Holden design. When I made power steering for my hatch nearly twenty years ago most people didn't blink an eye and walked by. A few people commented why I had a type 2 Saginaw hydraulic pump mounted in the engine bay. I told them I made the power steering system myself. Then all the experts started, informing me it was a special factory option for LX SS hatches with RTS. Then continued to scrutinise my cars giving me detailed information on my mods. When they carefully inspected the rest of the cars they only picked up a few of the mods and missed the majority. Ha Ha, you just have to laugh at these so called experts and smile. However if they can only pick a couple of the many mods I think I have achieved what I set out to do.

I'm sure you will be in the same position when you eventually get the opportunity to show your van at a local car show. Be prepared for a good laugh from these car show experts, I find it quite amusing to listen to their version of how your car was built.
