Yes, HZ XX7. I have L426217 and L426219 recorded right near it that are also HZ XX7's (1 x ute and 1 x van).

    G'day all,
Just thought I'd tag on here as the forum looks like the right one and I just joined last week finally.
Been reading the posts for a while but bought a sandman ute (hopefully) yesterday so just wanted to get some help. This one's a 253, 4 speed, 3.08 diff - no air or steer but has triple pulley on motor?
Had a 6cyl HX and a 308 HZ back in the 80's and also a "fully optioned" WB Kingswood in Torquay sand bought new in 84 - and been looking for a straight WB or HZ for a while. Currently have a VZ one tonner V8, VE SS Ute and a CL Valiant ute in Orange with 137000 genuine k's.
This one is Atlantis Blue 5/78 HZ with original owners manuals and all matching numbers sold by Atwoods Perth in 6/78 but book just says Holden ute with all the details not Sandman. First owned in Waroona just south of Perth and been in country WA since.
It had no stripes so I'm guessing this was a DL7 option and was owned by a lady as the first owner so that may be why?. Unfortunately some genius sprayed the interior black over the buckskin so I'll need to get some idea of what dash and console colours etc are correct. I ordered a disc off ebay so hopefully that will tell me what I need to know so I can go searching as I'm betting getting vinyl spray off is just too bloody hard.

    Plates are as follows
    HZ8W M 80
    414540-A
    1934-63V
    567-30525
    L32 / M40 / GU4

    8M80RHL414540Z

    BHZ20076A - chassis matches this
    seat cap 2, GVW 1950

    Motor is 11/4/78 build

    Placard in glovebox is 9946866

Courtesy lights and Kingswood interior, GTS dash, lining behind seat, fan forced ventilation, Large air vent holes under bumper and all the other pointers are there

Any help here would be good

It is an XX7. DL7 appears to have been very common in HZ, so not surprised it didn't have them.
Very rare to find an auto 4.2L Sandman. Normally an auto Sandman is a 5.0L.

Sorry - I'm an idiot - gearbox is M20 4 speed on plate - wrote it down wrong

    - - - Updated - - -

Is there any way of following up further on build options etc on these or are Holden records crap like Chryslers?

I'll see what I can find. VERY unusual to find a 3.08:1 rear axle in a HZ commercial behind a 4.2L 4spd. They are almost always 3.55 or 3.36.

Most don't. Nor do most XU3. Or XU4 or XV2, or XV4, or XW8 etc.
