According to the WB statesman service supplement book the round one was for the N67 alloy wheel and the other one is for"all wheels except N67 cast alloy wheel".

Yeah good point, just thought it was interesting to read. I had thought about N67 superseding the rally wheels but only have a tiny amount of info in my hot little hands.

    winch bases for holdens

    (Rodney Says)

Fellows I can't quite get the understanding, of the round winch base, I admit there is a difference, however the one we posted last night from our Red Van I consider genuine, the pics above are of a standard base model HQ one tonner we bought recently...

The pics above show the winch base from a HX Sandman van which has never been molested,or modified and is one owner since 6month old....I admit the base is rounder, but has cut off edges so it can be taken out of the rim...

These two pics are close up pics of our HZ red van which we posted pics of last night, and went back to the panel beaters and checked further we consider this to be original although the cone bit appears to be put on upside down...we will be happy to hear feedback

OK here is a point. The round one was offered as the N67 alloy wheel fitting in WB. Now they are the same one that was used on the rally wheels, one of the others was used for the standard wheels, what was the other one for? There are three part numbers so there was three different ones. Jennie has two of different ones with the sides cut off. Was one for HQ only?
As far as I can see there were two different ones with the sides cut off and one round one. So the round one must have been rally wheels and N67?

I have had a couple of reds so am probably confused.

I think you'll find the one Rodney has posted pics of is for the N66 Rally rims and the round one Greg has is for the N67 Alloy rims.... my memory is a little vague but I seem to recall the plates on my Sandman vans in the 80's had side cut outs like Rodneys but I never really took much notice of them back then.

The big question is does Greg have an original N67 Alloy rim to compare against and does the round plate fit through the hole and sit snug in one?????

the round one i pictured came off the xx7 tagged hj sandman ute i had i thought..BUT ALAS I AM WRONG.. what is this round one?
but saying this then it is all a presumption until it can be 100 per cent verified.
off i go to find an n67 rim...

Hmmm, Ozbox you are not the only one geting confused on this one... I remember that the wheel winch plate off my ute was different to the standard plate and from the initial pic's assumed it was the round one, but seeing your new photo's Jennie I got that wrong:confused: - as the photo's show...

So can a Sandman one be created by cutting down a standard plate (hence no need to remake one) or are there other differences?

ok...so i found the right one and then dug up a standard one and removed both from the winch cables..the larger one is for standard wheels...the smaller one is for the rally 2s and IS the one off the hj xx7 sandman ute..[verified by the person who removed it and put it away..hence i couldnt find it]..
there is enough difference to say that you cant chop one down from the standard one and it would be correct...

and here is a pic of the n67 winch plate...
