The Usual question is this is a genuine Sandman

    Hi there

Found this HZ ute - looks the goods but there are a few things that make me nervous.
Be fantastic if you can give some feedback.

    Details as follows:
    Body id plate:
    Model HZ8WM80
    BODY NO 410636_A
    TRIM 1939_18V
    PAINT 567_30530
    ENG L32 TRANS M20 RR AXLE GV4

    VEHICLE ID PLATE
    8M80RHL410636Z

    SAFTEY COMPLIANCE
    HOLDEN HZ UTILITY
    04 _78 BHZ 16891A
    GVW 1950
    SEATING CAP 2
    Chasis or Eng #? QR943603

Looks good in pics - colour coded mirrors and blacked out in mainly the right places.
    BUT -
    blacked out front scoop?
It has the three square breather holes behind each front wheel (GTS Guards??) - I didn't think the HZs had these?
Doesn't have the standard Holden emblem on the front grill and maybe Statesman bumper?HZ.PDF

    Ossie!

I think it looks good to be a Sandman with 18V trim. Flutes often got put in because they look cool. Black spoiler? I'd like to see a photo of that.

Nice one, new one to me too. GVW is the clincher.

    Hi

Pic attached of the black front spoiler.
Any comments on the front end - badge on front of nose cone rather than on grill is a bit different to all the pics I have seen, but this could just be a replacement.
To Sandman Guru why is the GVW of 1950 the clincher? The quick guide says should be 1860 for a ute?

Anyone know where I can paint codes and colours for these beasts?

Paint is Windsor Blue. The spoilers are factory but often destroyed on curbs and in car parks so probably replaced or repaired -would have originally been blue. The GTS guards didn't come out on HZs, but they are a beautiful thing so someone has added them at some stage. I have pir at home that will go on my HZ one day. The badge is off statesman. Rims look to be widened and chromed but they too look good. I think the GTS mirrors would have been blue originally too? Cheers, Jeza

Mirrors should be body colour as well. Nice ute though!

Guide is wrong. 1950kg is the correct GVW for that ute, and it is unique to XX7 ute at that time.
