Road tested spares, Higgs, holdent and a few others on eBay are asking top dollar for average parts and most of those parts have been on eBay for many months so no, people are not paying those prices.
the thing with eBay is if it doesn't sell it doesn't cost much for the listing so they play on the "leave it there long enough and some sucker will eventually buy it" ... It comes down to a part is worth what you are willing to pay for it. If you need a part and can't find many you will generally pay more than it's worth to get it..
I paid $250 for a nos upper tailgate skin and thought it was a bargain.... The guy who is selling the nos upper tailgate bought it for $850 so he is just profiteering.
