    Hilux dyno

I put the Hilux on a dyno today to baseline how it goes standard. Will do again with the 2 3/4 exhaust, extractors, high flow cats and XEDE processor on it.

It had a full tank of Caltex Vortex 98 in it, and the only thing altered from standard that will affect the chassis dyno result is it has 265/65/17 tyres on it. I think the standard tyres were 255/70/15.

Peak hit 127kW at approx 4500-4700rpm (slip of converter makes it hard for the dyno to predict) in 3rd at approx 130km/h. It was richening up heaps above about 3000rpm, and the exhaust and tuneable XEDE will fix this so it should get the improvement of both the better flowing exhaust and a bit leaner A/F ratio. Hoping for what the manufacturere of the exhaust typically sees - anout 20% gain in power and torque, so looking for 150rwkW and no flatten off at the top end plus maybe 390lbft torque peak again with little droop up high and no drop below 300lbft at low rpm.

As it is now is pretty much about what you'll get at the back wheels of a stock VN-VSIII EFI 5 litre. If I can get what i'm aiming for i'll probably see stock LS1 peak rwkW but less torque.

You can see Toyota are pretty honest too with their advertised figures, peak power of 175kW @5200rpm is not that far from being correct for rwkW I got of 127 @ high 4000's rpm.

It really does punch fuel out the exhaust up high. I know Toyota do run them rich up in the rev range to cover against detonation while towing but I didn't know they were that rich (10.6:1 AFR)! Good base line, be interested to see how much your tuner can get out of it and what the motive force ends up at.
