It is a little bit of a shame to do it to what will be one of the most collectable Sandmans (if it is one) if they ever become really valuable (being an L31 Kingswood ute Sandman). It is the sort of thing lesser spec cars should be used for (6cyl and 253 examples), but it is your car and it will appeal to a different market and being a Sandman won't hurt its value.
I'd do it too, but I wouldn't use a manual so I wouldn't have to touch the floor. I'm even considering an LS1 for one of my GTS327's rather than a 427 as it is far easier and cheaper, but i'd be using a Muncie so no floor mods are required.

Some HX are the same as HJ. Later HX-WB are different.
My HX was a 3/77 so it must have been fairly late in HX.

The later ones have slots if I remember correctly.
Here is the front console mount in my 6/77 HX Sandman uteAttachment 11500

Wanted Lanspeed accessories for Holden Grey engines, twin carb manifolds, extractors, rocker cover, 3 speed floor shift.
In my previous post I should have put the reference to the console mount differently. Should have written "later design" rather than what I wrote. Apologies to all especially Absinth who called me on it. Being a bit more focussed on HJ's I haven't paid particular attention to what may or may not be fitted or standard to other models and was not aware that they didn't just change straight away with the model change.
My mistake. I'll pull me 'ed back in now.
Dave.
