    Less ute's than van's?

I have read that Sandman ute's are harder to come by than van's. If this is so, did holden build less of them or were they just flogged to death in their day? When I was an apprentice in the 70's, I used to see Sandman van's and ute's being used by all the trade's. When they were finished with them, they went and bought another.

    Cut down

Yes seems odd because so many Vans when they were no longer the flavour of the month were cut down to utes, so you assume there would be more....we nearly did that with our van in fact.....:o

I was always under the impression there were less just because you see less of them. But perhaps they just didnt get the stickers as often as the vans due to the van craze?
A mate of mine has just bought a HJ ute optioned as L31 M21. But it has 3 seat capacity so maybe more people needed 3 seats in utes for work so a Sandman was no good? Its a kingswood by the way.
As for utes being for tradesman I cant understand why they didnt but one tonners instead anyway. Utes are useless for carrying anything anyway.
