    HZ Sandman van

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HZ-holden...f#ht_22wt_1153

    Currently $1600 in Naracoorte SA.

If anyone goes to look at this see if you can get him (I think this is the same guy) talking about his HG GTS. It is a VERY special car. I'd love to get someone to look at the car if I can't myself.

The Sandman is a new one to me too, would be great to get the chassis number (I have the rest for the Ebay auction).

It was a standard HZ Sandman originally ie 4.2L 4spd except it had the economy rear axle (3.08:1) rather than the standard rear axle (3.55:1). There are two of them as consecutive PSN's built on the same day, this one and a Panama green car. GMH must have built them for stock order so they had some economy rear axle cars available ready to go. Wouldn't have been very popular to order if you got to test drive one though, with the gutless HZ pollution 4.2L single exhaust engine and 4spd they would have been a bit of a slug off the line.

Sandman was no different to any other HJ-HZ. If L31 M41 was specified the standard axle was 3.08 (GU4), or you could option an economy axle (2.78 or 2.6) or a performance rear axle (3.36).
Economy rear axle was 2.6 in HX-HZ; 2.78:1 in HJ (except trial ADR27A HJ circa 2-3/76 which got 2.6).

The only time this differed was if L31 specified on a BO6 cab-chassis (which automatically came with M41), then the standard diff was a 3.36.
