The one thing 100% for sure is that is it NOT the original engine block issued with the car.

Thanks mate, that is exactly what i was chasing, how, if in any way, does this affect authenticity in the future, chassis matches plates, is it ok to throw in any random red motor as long as its a 308?

Unless the car is mint with books and logged history the engine number matching it is not so relevant. If you can find one (red 308) with a period correct date code all the better but your not going to fool the experts. So will have little effect on the value of this car.
