The Belmont here probably used to be a bit rough in some areas, but today it is just part of the bigger city and has some very nice parts to it. The "Bogan" (for want of a better word) areas today are probably Windale/Gateshead West and West Wallsend/Holmesville/Barnsley although it is a bit unfair as I know some great people from these areas. Jennifer Hawkins is from Holmesville (media always stuffs it up when they say she was a Newcastle girl, not correct she is from Lake Macquarie).
