Removing Seam sealer

Doing some research and advice from wbute to check the SDS - xylene might be a suitable method of removing Sikalfex.

MSDS says Toluene for drip-check Blocker. But playing with aromatic hydrocarbons isn't a great idea!

Believe it or not but good old baby oil and a wire brush .
The baby oil does not dissolve it but stops it from smearing and sticking back on.

OK so far;
White Spirit - No Good
WD-40- Left it on for 5 mins no good
Mineral Turpentine - worked ok on a rag, better with a stiff brush then wipe the excess off
Acetone - worked great. Poured some on the scrapped area to soften. Then scrapped off some more then wipe with more on a rag.

This is why it is a good reason to remove all seal sealer. There was a big lump in the corner and none of this could be seen till I lifted the blob out.
I will take some pictures of the process and results tomorrow.

Stick with acetone then. It dissolves gasket goo so they must be similar. That gasket removal spray might work too.

Make sure you have plenty of ventilation with the acetone too.
I prefer my toluene tri-nitrated.

Seriously though, fresh air is your friend.

Try plumbers pvc cleaner clear not the red stuff or silicone remover
