Yes Tally...I'm sure some cars are just advertised to see what interest there is !!! And I do remember seeing a HSV Avalanche advertised at a reasonably cheap with just over 100,000kms on it...looked like a good buy, if I can find it I'll again I will let you know.

Sweet! Have been quietly looking for a while. Would prefer a HSV but quite happy to go with a good (low kms a bonus, and known quantity as far as a service history goes) Adventra and mod away - exhaust, brakes, box and tune etc. They don't take a lot to get them really cracking either.

Was thinking about Byron's Munro at one point but I wasn't willing to move away from a wagon shape for a daily as I've gotten very used to the usefulness of them.

    I must be getting old....

Hey Taily, that HSV Avalanche is on Carpoint, it's red and it has 100,600 km on the clock in Victoria. It is $14,800....I'd hate to think what it would have been worth new.

The reason i'd steer clear is the cost of used spares and insurance cost. But still good buying if you want a HSV, you never know what will HSV do once Holden is gone locally, good ones may appreciate in value.
Impossible to pick what they'll do in the future. I'm just after something neat, useful with a bit of go in it. Doesn't have to be an HSV either.

You are better off with the Holden than the HSV. Then mod the engine and brakes. That way you don't have all the bits hanging off them making them look like a cross-dresser! Plus you don't pay the HSV tax. If you get one i'll send you the mods I made to my Cross8 and before/after dyno runs. I' e been toying with buying a Cross6 tonner and putting the driveline out of a Cross8 or Adventra in it. For some stupid reason Holden didn't offer a V8 in the AWD tonner.

I had heard they were very thirty on fuel is that the case or not worse than any other Holden V8

Avalanche RRP. $73,900.... at $14,800 it would be a steal with just over 100,000 kms on the clock. I new a fellow that had the holden version and his was just a six and that sucked the juice compared to a standard commodore, you wouldn't want to plan a trip around Oz or be towing with it much.

Not that bad as a Cross8 once you get the exhaust done and tuned with lean cruise turned back on. Mine would have averaged about the same as a 253 or well tuned 308, around 20mpg (on E10). Pretty damn good for a 2tonne 5.7L V8.
