Was it possible they optioned one tonner springs and increased the GCM that way? It lifted the GCM on a one tonner to 2600 and that is the difference I assume between one tonners and utes or is that increased through heavier duty tyres?

Springs aren't the issue, they are the same for XX7 or XU3. It is the tyres that have the extra load rating. You could option a gross load package but that is on a 2155/2200kg ute or van. Doing it to an XX7 or XU4 defeats the whole purpose of using passenger vehicle tyres to drop the GVW. Tonners get their extra GVW (2600kg 6cyl, 2660kg V8) from:

Rear springs.
Rear axle on 6cyl.
Axles.
Heavy duty rear wheel bearing retainers.
Front and rear unis.
Heat treated front stubs.
Front springs
Heavy duty 6" rims.
Light truck type tyres.

Plus of course the lightweight cab-chassis, which in a HZ Tares in at only 1242kg, so add a 100kg alloy tray and you are looking at a registered vehicle weight of only 1342kg. Plenty of room for 1000kg load and 3 x people in the cab. V8 is 1314kg Tare.

The red used to be one of the colours of this ute I've found out while rubbing back

Those look like real plates to me, my initial thought when I heard about the 1950kg was that someone had made up a set of fake plates but these have the proper markers for original plates.
The red is probably the red oxide electrostatic primer. Acacia Ridge painted the cars with the body tag on in HX at this time.

Colour is fine, 1887 was a normal HX colour. GVW is a mistake I think, but doesn't matter, it is still a reduced GVW to match the other pair of plates.

2200kg is normal for HJ-WB V8 ute and van. 1950kg on a HZ Kingswood must be a van and it will be an XU4 (same thing as XX7 but not a Sandman). If the HX has heavier springs than a standard HQ-WB ute or van it means it either was optioned with F72 (gross load equipment which is tonner rear springs) or someone has put tonner rear springs under it. The springs on the HZ XU4 Kingswood will be the same as any other normal HQ-WB ute or van too.

Because of all the other tonner bits that would be needed too, which would include a Salisbury rear axle on 6cyl vehicles. Plus a special tailshaft with 1.125"unis front and rear.

I don't think you could get F72 outside of the XW5 "Outback Equipment Package" either, and it didn't increase the GVW of the vehicle otherwise all the other tonner bits would be needed as well. As far as i'm aware the F72 springs were for a constant load increase eg a canopy on a ute or permanent toolboxes or racks in a van.

Thanks everyone for your input now its just down to what to do back to original or i'd like to change colour to a white and put some decals on but thats way down the road

The Hz was a 5 lt ute the hx ticks all the sandman boxes except for the 2200 kg gvm would you describe it as a sandman with a f 72 option
