Why is that relevant? You don't see Lancaster bomber or tank engines called Spitfires simply because an engine was first used in a Spitfire. The LS1 wasn't a carryover current design when GM Powertrain was formed like the TH700R4 which changed to a 4L60, TH400 to a 3L80 or the old GenII Gm small block which also carried into GM Powertrain. It'd have been used in the Corvette first as it was GM's premium sports car. It almost always got the new goodies first.
