Hsv vn vs 3800

Greetings all!

Wanting to find out any info on this particular model.
1990 Build No 896!
How many were made and what did HSV actually do to enhance them?

All and any input would be appreciated.

It is a VN SV3800. I copied the following text off another forum:

From the HSV website:

HISTORY: 491built

The model was discontinued on 30th May, 1990.

BUILD: HSV Dealer Model

PRICE ON RELEASE: $39,000

WHEELS: HSV cast alloy by ROH, 16 x 7.05

ENGINE: V6 - 132kw/292Nm

CAPACITY: 3791cc

This model was the first VN by HSV and is based on the Berlina.

It was produced before the re-release of the VN V8 series. As this is the first ongoing production model by HSV based on the VN, the SV3800 received it's name from the size of the engine as opposed to the year of it's release.

The SV3800 continues the luxurious characteristics of the SV88 and was originally finished on Dorward Blue (named after Ian Dorward who was a Walkinshaw staff member).

Early models were equipped with the black four spoke Calais steering wheel until February 1989.

After this time the more sensual SV Momo steering wheel gained ADR approval.

The clock in the standard VN Commodore was displayed in the stereo system. In the HSV version, a separate clock was added to the top of the console which is separate from the stereo.

It was the only model by HSV with this feature.

It'll probably be HSV no. 896 for 1990.

Within 2 years you could buy an XR6 for $30k that would absolutely flog it (in every respect).

Almost all of them were a big flush of cash down the toilet. Only a select few HSV's have ever appreciated, and for most of them to ever be worth anything they will have to remain unused defeating the whole point of buying one.

I've got a dash plaque for an SV 3800 in my collection. Can't recall the build number off the top of my head, but I know where to find the plaque.

Incidentally, I have a load of HSV NOS badges that I bought in a job lot about 8 years ago if anyone needs a replacement. Dash plaques for VT/VX, 10th anniversary stuff, 5-speed gear shift pattern badges, all sorts of cool stuff. PM me if you need something....

Apparently the computer is recalibrated and extractors and exhaust are the only real performance mods.

This something for one of the kids?

Yes I've read the computer is remapped. How can you tell what was done to it and what it would change?
