I have 9 x HJ Sandman in 1901, and 1 x HQ V8 Belmont van. So in the scheme of things relatively common in HJ.
whats 1901 ?
As above, 1901 is satin mist heat cured acrylic.
Satin Mist replaced the ill-fated Baroda Silver Mk11, which was the common silver of the time. It suffered badly with breaking down in strong sunlight and went a dull grey, almost primer colour. My Dad had a HQ Premier (202/Trimatic) in Baroda that I drove to school a lot before I got my 1st car and it was really awful looking for a while until we threw a new coat of paint on it.

My LC XU-1 was Baroda Silver. Looks great when fresh but as Rob states it can go soar.
Satin mist looks great on the right car, like a HJ GTS coupe. To me silver needs red highlights, hence why a HK GTS in Silver Mink with all the red highlights or a HJ GTS with red Monaro and GTS badges plus the red stripe in the black trim looks nice. Not an inspiring colour on a blander car though.
So true. There are a lot of silver cars on the road now, it seems to be a popular colour, but they don't have the right trim to look good. (Not that any modern cars look good compared to the ones we all love).
When did you last see a modern car in silver with red trim? It's been a long time.
