Just been on ebay looking at id tags. There are a few tags from EH's to HR's, for around $25 and even a set of Statesman ones for $999. But in the sold section people are paying from $20 for EJ up to $102 for a set off a HQ van. But what surprised me was someone paid $1025 for a set from a HT Monaro. They were all bent up and in rough condition. I might get lucky and find some sucker that will give me that or even more. It's amazing what people will pay good money for.

The only reason someone would pay good money for Monaro tags would be to do a dodgy

The problem you have is the tags are mismatching, and without the chassis number with the B under the last S to prove it was a split-plant build no-one would want them for a car.

I was more interested of scans or just numbers off any Holden tags, not just the Monaro ones. Trying to get as many recorded as we can whilst they are still around.

Both tags had been painted black on the car. It was a 327 GTS drag car that I purchased around 1985. It was totally lightened with perspex windows and a wild light blue/ big fleck dark purple paint job. I still have the big rear fiberglass spoiler behind my garage. I'll try to remove the paint at some stage and scan them for you ( I have had trouble uploading photos though). As for keeping them, I have enough crap in my shed and I'm trying to lighten my load. I might put them on ebay and see what someone will pay for them, I just sold a set of rusty, moldy seat belts for a LC Torana for $61, I was going to chuck them out.
Did you keep the bit of firewall with the chassis number on it?

Can you remember where the body tag was? Firewall (directly above the chassis number) or up on the cowl?

Shame you cut the shell up. I have to cut up a really good early HK Monaro shell for its early ridged windscreen pillars. My Warwick yellow GTS327's pillars were damaged when it was a speedway car (when they put the mesh in the windscreen hole).

Ground the firewall number until it was unreadable. As for the body tag it was above the chassis number on the firewall. You can see where the paint has run down then back of the tag.

If you find any hq coupe trim while cleaning out that garage keep your fellow Canberran in mind.
