Low miles won't hurt the cooling system if it had coolant in it normally. It will sludge up the engine though. It looks reasonable in the pictures though.

That I have Byrone, I am trying to leave the overspray on the water pump too. Took photos of it all too in case any gets removed by accident...

Well guys, this is about as good as I can get the old paint on this ute, it is mostly buggered.

    Two photos for your comparison.

That's a major improvement on how you found it Outlaw. Good work.

    Thanks Robbo and Valenica.

I have spent way too much time on such weathered old paint, but I do not wish to restore just yet so at least it looks presentable now I feel. Brake caliper rebuilds next and hopefully a little test drive!

So you have (or are going to) throw a coat or 2 of polish over that to preserve it for the time being?

That's a top looking survivor now mate..... no hurry to paint it.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

    Thanks again guys.

I will throw polish or something on it Big Rob, but as it will be locked away in my insulated shed and hardly ever see the light of day, I am hopeful it will preserve reasonably well. I have three other HQ's, and a handful of other cars plus a company car so I rarely get each one out.

Big improvement but some people would pay good money to get the effect of the rusty Holden, saw another product recently on the Net that will do the same job Calcium Lime Rust removal saw some pictures similar to what you have done, Great looking survivor either way well done
