If that is the case Gene all Holdens should as well as they also had racing heritage (HK-HG GTS327/350). Same with Commodore. Toranas are in general overpriced too, not the proper performance examples (XU1 and L34) but the rest are.

Disagree with you there Byron not all holdens were raced i can understand A9X L34 XU1s and HK Monaros i can see the value in them and the Brock commodores but you have to remember they are top $$$ cars so people buy the next in line that they can afford model such as GTR or SLR5000 that keeps the value of these cars up
its like if you cant afford a Sandman your going to buy a kingswood ute or van
but i am worried that one day these cars will come crushing down in prices
    i hope im wrong

Actually Valencia, I am of the same opinion as you, one day they will crash, they are already down on what they used to be, same cars for sale for months and months.

You will always have the dreamers but I think the trick is to own something you really want and keep it a long time and enjoy it.

    Just my opinion.

I think they will drop to the equivalent of around $20000 in today's value in the future. Looking at 40's vintage restored cars and they are around that value now.
Value is probably more related to interest in the cars than anything really. No interest in the panelvans during the 90's equalled no value at all.
People dealing in them has pushed the price of panelvans way past what they are worth.

You've actually agreed with me Gene, I think! Not all Toranas were raced either, and only some were successful. Just like Holdens. HB, TA, LC, UC were never truly successful where it counted, although the LC XU1 was a pretty good package. LX was never really successfully raced either, not remotely related to what you could buy anyway (in fact UC was the Torana on offer for most of the successful LX racing). The Toranas I think are way over-valued (or should I say over-estimated in value) are GTR, SLR5000 and SS. These are the ones people will eventually get burnt on if top $ is paid for them unless they are either Survivors or near perfect restos. Run of the mill stuff is where the values may suffer, but this will be the case with most GMH product of the same level - the premium prices are for the gems, and people seem to over-estimate the value of the turds of the bunch because of those prices. We see it everyday with stupid $ paid for rusted out Sandmans - or for tags for that matter.

Agree with GTR and SLR5000 but the L31 SS hatchback that are still flare less are pretty rare these days imho they will hold there value more than the others

L31 SS hatchbacks yes, but not SS in general. Like L31 Sandmans vs L32/L20/LD1 Sandmans.
