In some ways, but like any Holden, Commodore, Torana etc only a select few of them will be collectable, the rest will just be a passing fad. No-one will want the bottom shelf stuff unless that is all they can afford.

People still restore HX Sandmans even though they are the bottom of heap.... Except 6 cylinder ones.
I am interested in Sandmans only because they had a cool sticker kit and were mostly V8's. I have no connection to the Van craze and to be honest find show vans a bit over the top. I prefer Utes because that's what all my mates drove when I left school. Except Sandaro who had his HJ Sandman of course.
So it's what interest you that makes you want something. Unfortunately dealers and traders push the value of old cars way past what they are really worth to Joe Blow the actual car lover.

People do restore HX's, but they also restore 6cyl 4 door Toranas! Nothing wrong with the hobby, we are talking future collectables via crystal balls. In the end I think it'll be the 308/5.0L Sandmans that will be what people will want if any are desired at all. At the moment for some reason vans are more popular than utes, but that will probably change again at least once.
My interest was always in the "GTS" style Sandman (HQ-HJ), I was never a fan of HX-HZ as the stripes always looked too girly to me. HX and HZ GTS and LE were the same for me too, too much blingy cr@p on them, HQ-HJ GTS look far better in my eyes.
