Has anyone had a 4 speed rebuilt, strengthened from Australian 4 Speed Specialists?
They sell upgraded M20/21's up to approx. 200kw for around $2000.

Hi there no van man, i had mine done but it was my own box around 3 years ago, you wouldn't pick it as a professional business it is at the back of old house in Belmore shit everywhere but he knows where everything is and very smart guy he knows his stuff, it was $900 to rebuild mine and is very good, no problems at all.
That's good to hear mate, he mentioned that as part of the upgrade he machines the housing and cluster gears so he can use a 21mm lay shaft, same as the Toploader.

What else does he do to make them stronger
I was always under the impression the Main shaft Circlip was always an issue? Is that right? Wonder if he sorted that out.
Yeah they used to machine a biggercirclip groove and it was on the bigger lay shaft I think.
$900 is a bargain. I took an M20 to a shop in Perth a few weeks ago for a laugh... $1100 starting price to crack it open and do bearings. any gears etc then add hundreds more.

They aren't hard to rebuild yourself is they need no machining. They are pretty basic, lay everything out on a clean table as you disassemble and replace what's needed. I did one when I was about 11 or 12 (under Dad's watchful eye) and it lasted for ages.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
