Face it. All Fords a crap. Some look interesting though. Some are worth lots of money too. Christ knows why.

I'm a GM and Holden man, through and through....as my dad told me in 1975 from the front seat of the family EH Holden when I asked what car brand we followed. My avatar should tell the story, however i like two Fords. These are the XY GTHO and the big block Cobra.

Every major car manufacturer has some innovations that have shaped the car world in some way and should be respected for their input. Ford developed mass production and even Volvo get a mention for giving away the three point seat belt to every other car manufacturer free of charge.

Having said that, i am still seeking a good 1959 Corvette Roadster in Roman Red for the Missus....when i win lotto!

Actually they're getting pretty rare, anyone seen a Cortina on the road recently?

Anyone seen an XA-XE on the road recently? Probably the biggest rust buckets I've ever seen. If you are anywhere near to the coast were not a good car to own. I occasionally see the odd XF, but very rare to see an earlier one outside of car collectors out for a spin. I still regularly see HJ-WB everyday drivers, especially tonners.

I must have had the 2 good ones then. XE sedan with a 351 Auto on straight gas with not a spec of rust. Awesome cheap to run cruiser. Currently have an XE S pack ute at the farm too with no rust. The old spray painter I used to work with decided to upgrade to a Hilux. I got him in touch with another mate who had the exact combo he wanted so he gave me the XE as a finders fee.
Also had a few ED six seater sedans and use an AU for thrashing around the farm as well.

I still see a few on the road around here. The owners look pretty "original" so I'm guessing they've probably spent their whole life in Canberra.

Yep this was absolutely my position on Holden V Ford throughout the 90's you could (politetly) point out to your Ford mate, "aint seen an XC for a while" whereas even HQ's were still everywhere at the time, (just had to be prepared to duck! - LOL) But, a really ironic thing happened after I made the post before this regarding Cortina. In the days following I did actually see one, registered driving and parked prominently at my local shopping centre.
New white paint and mags -obviously someones new ride, project and and pride and joy etc.

Gotta say, it would be wrong, that having occurred, not to post this, sure it was just one Cortina, but ideas of synchronisity (etc) came to mind. Did I only notice it becuase I had made a post regading Cortinas within a day or so before, or... did that Cortina just happen to be parked at a spot where I was gonna walk past to make me think again, who knows, anyway, that did actually happen.

Hence the "near to the coast" comment.
