Yep this was absolutely my position on Holden V Ford throughout the 90's you could (politetly) point out to your Ford mate, "aint seen an XC for a while" whereas even HQ's were still everywhere at the time, (just had to be prepared to duck! - LOL) But, a really ironic thing happened after I made the post before this regarding Cortina. In the days following I did actually see one, registered driving and parked prominently at my local shopping centre.
New white paint and mags -obviously someones new ride, project and and pride and joy etc.

Gotta say, it would be wrong, that having occurred, not to post this, sure it was just one Cortina, but ideas of synchronisity (etc) came to mind. Did I only notice it becuase I had made a post regading Cortinas within a day or so before, or... did that Cortina just happen to be parked at a spot where I was gonna walk past to make me think again, who knows, anyway, that did actually happen.

I have noticed a fair few tradies today using VY-Z and BA tonners that have replaced their old HQ-WB tonners. I've asked a few why, and it solely came down to availabilty ond cost of parts. They used to buy $100 doors or seats to pass rego, but those parts are now $500 an not available off the shelf like they used to be. Same tradies "tried a Jap ute, damn diesel piece of cr@p spent more time being fixed than working". Problem is these guys want to drive the things, service them each blue moon and fix them themselves when they break, you can't do that with a modern common rail or even with the petrol Hiluxes. I had to tell a bricky that does a fair bit of work for me that his 3.5L Rodeo his brother gave him will need to have coolant kept up to it or it'll corrode out on him, won't go for 6 years on just tap water like his 253 HZ did!

Out of the somewhere in between 20-30 cars I've owned, 2 weren't Holdens.

One was my first car which was a datto 120Y, the other was an EB wagon that I picked up cheap cause I needed a car.
Wrote the the EB off six months after buying it.

But in 2002 I did nearly buy an XW. Was a GT replica in everything except driveline (6 cyl, 3 on the tree). They wouldn't budge on price or let me test drive it so I left it.

The 120Y I'll let you get away with because you were young and any car was better than no car and it got you on the road.

The EB, well you let yourself slip a bit there, but at least you killed it quickly.

    However......

The owners of the GT replica did you a favour by not letting you drive it. Imagine the look on every persons face after they asked you about your "GT" and you had to explain it had a 250 and a 3 speed. Not a great way to look cool, tough, fast or anything you'd like to be.

Haha it wasn't a bad car apart from the ford part.

The only reason I bought the EB was it was cheap, it was on the side of the road for sale near home and I'd written my VP off and only had my LH to get around in, which was fine for me but I wouldn't let the mrs drive it lol.

I have never owned a Chrysler Bogan, but I do love my Ford's and Holden's. I have friend's that have had valiant's, and made money on them though.

Bogan, you should watch TV show>> Division 4>>> Matlock Police>>> The Box. & you will see Valiant & Fords on that show. Have a look, if you got pay TV it should be on there.
