    hambo, there are vans now that look like original Sandmans and never were, and just as many Sandmans that have been repaired using standard bits, so the only real way is to look for the tell-tale signs like console mounts etc. A lot of vans got sunroofs and surfboard racks back then, there was a whole industry based on customising vans in the late '70's/early '80's. I'm surprised there are any standard ones left.

    If, as HK says, it is still painted Jamaica Lime, no matter how bad the paint is, it is a good chance that it's a Sandman as that was a popular original colour but not a popular respray colour later on.

    Looks like you have a good chance it is one to me. Hope so for you.
