Sweet! Thanks! I got a guy going out there to have a look at it this Sunday. Hopefully it has a straight chassis with no cracks, he reckons theres a bit of rust in the floor pans which I can deal with and my guy knows where to check in other spots. I am curious do you reckon its worth $26,000 if the paint isn't Jamaican Lime? If it is a good paint job and is just a bit off colour I think I could live with that. Also the interior looks good but a little tired looking, not super tidy. $26000 seems a bit steep for a car that may need a reconditioned motor as its done 424000 kms and may not have the original paint job and a little TLC needed on the interior. Then again $26000 is a pretty fair price for an original. Keen to hear your thoughts

It is a HJ Holden van optioned with 4.2L V8 and 4spd. Nothing in those photos says it is a Sandman or not.
You need to inspect the car in person.

    Your money and your decision.
However if it just an engine and floor pans that need done and everything is there to drive way, why not? 26k would be a price that I personally would consider as a purchase for a complete genuine Sandman - Jamaican Lime or not.

Doesn't look too bad, but it's got the wrong stripes and the rain hole in the roof won't help its value. Plenty of small things to do to make it right. Spoiler, grille, headlight surrounds etc.

seems like a massive price for a 4.2 van that is 50/50 and will always be hard to prove as original.

I personally don't see 26K in it. But it is a personal decision.
Rust repairs, paint and a pretty low optioned Sandman if it is one.

    Good luck with your decision.

Gee, 26 grand is a lot to pay for something that needs a lot of work, original or not. If there's a fair amount or lot's of small rust repairs then it probably needs another ( number 4!) paintjob. That plus a motor plus interior tidy up plus....?

    Sounds expensive to me.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

Bit over priced in my opinion
check out the Valencia orange van on gumtree in Dunsborough W.A. for 31k ono ok its got a 350 chev it but its all done
no more money to spend on it bloody nice looking van to
sounds like the one your looking at needs more than 5 k spent on it
if it was me i would be seriously looking at the orange van offer him a couple grand less for transport to your state

    makes sense to me

I agree, 26K for a possible Sandman with rust? You must be joking!!Going on what's been said about the condition of this car it would need a massive amount of repair work done to bring it up to scratch. If it has rust on the floor pans then there is a big possibility there is rust elsewhere? A quality paint job on a vehicle with minimal rust will cost around 12 to 15K, add major rust repairs etc, etc and you could be looking around 20k or more? An engine rebuild will cost between 3 to 4k? Then you have interior trim, bars could cost between $1500 to $2500. Already you are well over 50K (including the cost of the car) with most likely some to go. This is well above what a good genuine Sandman with a known pedigree is worth!! Forget about it and look for a known original Sandman with minimal rust.
