It does sound like you have cranky old man syndrome Byron.
I just think League is over-reffed today. They've fixed my biggest peeve though as the Sunday game is now live, I stopped watching the 2nd Friday game and the Sunday games due to the ads - they'd turn them into 2 hour games. Nowadays I refuse to watch ads, the only time I ever see any is the odd one in live sport if I happen to get back to the room early. All other TV is recorded and ads fast forwarded, tried recording League but rarely watched it.

Go the Roosters, up 22-0 at halftime. Damn Knights and Tigers have cost me in tipping this round, Titans pulled a loss out of the jaws of victory.

Rules are rules and the reff's can look after that. I only complain against the reff's when they miss the obvious and with 8 of them the mistakes are still there. The players are the ones who push and break the rules!

Titans and Cowboys have let me down so far in tipping. I really thought the Cowboys would put up a contest at home with their roster. 3 from 5 so far (with the Cowboys/Roosters game still playing).

For me it's Rugby League, simply as that!
Yes agreed Innuendo. I was bought up on Aussie Rules in Perth and the first time i saw Rugby was a state of origin game when i was 18. By that time, AFL was in the blood for good. Having said that, i played in the West Kimberley Football League and became so involved with footy (president of my club) i ended up losing the passion for a few years.

Having said all that League has been pi$$ing me off as a spectacle lately.
Are you a cranky middle aged man like me? Everything seems to piss me off nowadays. Agree with soccer being boring on TV and partially agree with AFL being boring. It gets boring when teams flood the defensive zone and the game breaks down into packs just paddling the ball around.

Can remember as a kid the ABC Saturday afternoon Rugby League coverage and remember former player Warren Boland as a commentator , also remember Saturday afternoons at my Nans and the VFL as it was called would be on and recall watching Leigh Matthews in full flight, would be boring if we all like the same sports and I love watching the V8's but I know a lot of people think motor sport is boring, I have no interest in the 500cc etc but will always take an interest if an Aussie is doing well and that goes for any sport

    Let's get two things straight;
Rugby League is not Rugby. Rugby is Rugby Union.
Next.... All sport is great, except Soccer. It's complete crap.

You are right, but with so many refs they still get it wrong, which is what annoys me. It happened to the Roosters against Penrith in the first final last year, can't recall exact details but the one that stands out this weekend was Parra vs Manly, Manly's Jessie Alphabet ripped the ball out in a tackle, ref calls knock on. We see 5 x video replays before the scrum, all refs, touch judges and players see it was the wrong call. Yet it doesn't get changed. However if it was a tiny slap in the face from an arm bouncing up off the ball it'd get changed to a penalty. It is this part if the game that annoys me - either use all the refs to their potential or don't use them all.

Same with Titans, they shouldn't have lost that game. I can't believe the Knancy boys beat the Warriors either - I had they Knance's penned in for the wooden spoon.

The best thing they could do is go back to one ref and just accept his mistakes. You only get the same results with twenty refs. It only slows the game down and is embarrassing to watch a ten man committee ref a game.

I agree, but if we must have the video ref they should use it wherever possible.

    The grand poobah has spoken!

Soccer which is in fact the only real "football" game, as in played with the feet, and is the world game and the highest paid players of any sport in the world.

Looks like you and the yanks finally have something in common, the world series.

Have a look out your window cobber, the world is changing, a meteorite has hit the planet and the dinosaurs are dying.

I think what you wrote is actually the completest crap I have ever read.

Why would the refs be heavy thinkers when the players aren't?

They too are able to lift heavy things and drink the bitterest of beer and the boganest of bourbon.
