Good Afternoon,
I have just emailed 14 photos to Jennie of my ute, included are some pic's of the gearshift, is this a M21 gearbox with close ratio??
There has been some modifying of the floor pan around the gearshift would someone have ideas on what might have gone on at some stage ??
Some one has suggested a quick shifter, because the console has been removed, I have the 2 brackets from the floor pan for the console.
Regards,
Barry.

It is more than likely a Sandman by those tags but it is near impossible to tell on a HJ Holden ute. It looks like it has had another box like a toploader in it and the hole has been welded up and cut for that Speco shifter.
The tags have been removed from the body, the body tag heavily cleaned and all put back on, so it may not be the original body to the tags.
The Holden Sandman ute was dropped on 1/3/76 to, so if this one is a Sandman it must have been entered into the schedule prior to the cut-off date when they could no longer be built. I just had a look in the database and it is the only HJ Holden Sandman ute I have recorded past 3/76 - the only Sandman utes after 3/76 I have are all Kingswoods. HJ Holden Sandman utes are very rare overall, I have bugger all recorded - most HJ Sandman utes are Kingswoods by far.
Hi HK,
Thanks for the reply, I have checked the body number stamped on the chassis and it matches to the plates.
Does it have a diffrent shifter in it ?? or is that standard
So in your expert opinion do I call it a Sandman ?
Regards,
Barry.
Rails may be original but the plates have been removed off the body hence my comment - it probably is the original body but I cannot state that.
Looks like a Speco aftermarket shifter to me.
As I said you cannot tell for certain if it was a Sandman or not.
Correct me if im wrong but didnt HJ have Silver dash facsia
