Never a flat tonneau on HQ to WB as original. They were rope on ones.
As for which came standard with a cover Byron would know. HZ Sandman did though.
I thought they all had the tonneau hooks on them. I recall this already being discussed but I can't find the conversation on here.
Flat tonneau is like cutting the gutters off a van in my opinion. It's only my opinion though so use which ever you like but if you want original then lose the flat tonneau.
Tonneau's were an option (E93). Although; like all models coming to an end GMH had a habit of including what was previously an option as standard fair to help sell product or compete with the opposition.

Only HZ Sandman and I think HQ and HJ Kingswood Sandman had tonneau as standard from what I can tell (Kingswood as it was part of Kingswood). From memory all Kingswood had them standard and the others appear to have come with hooks even if the tonneau wasn't optioned - although there is a small amount of evidence that contradicts this (which is not unusual in GMH literature).
I have owned two HJ Utes that had never had a tonneau fitted and also a HQ. I have also owned many more that did have tonneaus fitted. The Holden parts manuals list the tonneau as an option and the accessory option is E93. That's not to say Holden or dealers didn't supply them already fitted to compete for sales or offer as a promo. It may well have been discussed before but that certainly doesn't make it fact. That would like arguing over factory mudflaps (option or standard fitment).

The HG ute ad mentioned the same - "standard on Kingswood" (earlier model, I know...)

Did Belmont / Holden level have the hooks fitted as standard?
