It should be a Sandman, but you cannot tell for certain from the ID plates. There is only way on a HJ van and that is console mounts.
If it is GU4 and not GV4 then you have a reasonably rare optional diff ratio, Sandman or not.

Cheers mate, I'll put some photos up when I can.
GV4 (3.36) is the standard rear axle ratio for 308 manual on a Holden.
That is the correct tyre placard for a 10/75 onwards HJ XX7 or XU4 V8 van, so not a 100% positive identifier, but almost certain to be the original for the car.
If you still have trouble with photos email them to me and i'll post them up for you, holden@monaroparts.com. They are probably too big for the site, although I do have trouble with posting photos here on one of my PC's - there is an incompatibility problem with a version of Explorer.
I just emailed you some pics mate.
The car has only been registered for the first 10 years of its life so it's pretty original.
142 000km. Radio, although missing hasn't been cut out.. I love it!

I'll put them up when I get home.
HK1837 can I ask what makes the GU4 a rare diff option?
Any optional rear axle is rare, by my research maybe only a few % of cars have a rear axle different to the standard ratio. 3.08 behind L31 M21 in Holden is rarer than others, drive one and you'll see why!
Here are the photos of the tags.

Thanks mate!
What's the best way to clean them tags up without damaging them?
