Agreed, not fit for purpose. C'mon Rares, cant we fix it? There's obviously buyers out there, the replacement tailgate issue has been the subject of talk for around a decade now.
People will want them for years to come, all that needs to happen is somebody fits the wrong tow bar, lowers the tailgate and..... thump, need a new one again.

Hi.
I managed to get a full refund on mine and they are now only selling as a ute tailgate.
BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman
Thanks mate, they obviously haven't told all there stores that, I rang and ordered one for a van and was sent one, seems to have a big gap in the middle. thanks for your help, cheers Mark
I haven't fitted mine and am in no hurry to do it considering what it will take to get it right, but I'm thinking the only way to close the gap is to split the bottom and weld in a section to increase the thickness in the required area.
Or I'll put it on my ute.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
Are the kingswood country ones the same make? or better> cheers
Not sure. I have heard of some thin gauge ones for sale on the net, but certainly not pointing a finger at Kingswood Country. They are worth having a look at for sure, even if they are, I'd rather have a thin one that seals up than a thick one that lets exhaust gases in. I might buy one and have a look...
Don't know if anyone else here has any idea.
