Mate the issue I don't feel is with the external alignment/panel gap fitment but rather the way the inner shell fails to have the correct shape.
Clearly it has been shown that you can fit your fingers through the gate and beaver edge where this should be a tight fit (especially on a Panel Van) where the seal is quite important for passenger safety. So while your images show a reasonable job visually on the external area of the Ute. It is not showing the horrendous gapping hole in the centre section of the tailgate shell to beaver from the inside.
Think of it this way. If you filled the Ute with say fish tank pebbles and attempted to drive any distance I doubt you'd have much left at the end of the day.
