Yes, I use the 'superseded' to mean that the newer motor (186S) replaced the older motor (186 X2). My dictionary definition of 'supersede' is to "take place of" or "supplant". It's like saying that the HJ series superseded the HQ series.
In other words, the X2 was dropped when the S was introduced.
Also, in the engine table I gave the engine number of the last 186 X2 & the first 186S.
