    HQ Sandman Ute?

Greetings All, just bought a 7/74 HQ ute with the following... MODEL HQ80480, Body 437330M, TRIM 1878 30E, PAINT 568 15893. ADR Tag says Seating Cap 2. It's got a later (VR block) 253 and trimatic. No motor details on tags but I guess that means it's a factory 253 as the model number 80480 means Kingswood V8 ute and 253 is the base model so not stamped on tag? Tag says M20 box. Ute has HQ GTS dash (no clock?) and guards, blackouts, black trim, rear console mount which looks to be factory.

I've checked the sills for evidence of sill trim clip lugs; without taking it back to bare metal I can't be certain but I don't think there have ever been lugs on it.

Are there any other Sandman tell-tale signs I can look for?

p.s. thanks to Andy L for his help thus far!

That bracket just about nails it, can you get a clear photo of the tunnel showing the shifter hole and the hump behind it? Does the speedo go to 140mph?

Is the chassis number around EHQ26650-26750M?

Edit - if it is a Sandman it is only the second Chrome yellow Sandman ute I've recorded.

Speedo goes to 220KPH on outside, will check the MPH readings tonight as I think it's written on inside of the band if that makes sense. Will get a photo of shifter hole area tonight too. I'll send you the tag photos Byron with the chassis number but yeah close to what you quoted.

220 is right. They are either 140/225 (although they only show 220) or 120/200. The 140/225 is correct for HQ Sandman.

A few pics for anyone interested. Old mate I got it from reckons it was a pace car at Calder Park 15 or so years back. Anyone know anything about that?
