You're right! Magnums on the front and Aunger/ ROH on the rear. (needs 8's on the rear too!).

I could live with the mismatch with that motor under the bonnet.

Out of curiosity, is that an unusual GVM for a panelvan? or usual for hq? The hq ones I've seen have been in pounds.

The tag would have it in Lbs. The figure is from it's current registration. So it would be 5092lbs approximately. From memory a 308 HQ Van was around 4850lbs.

That isn't one of the Ron Hodgson vans, they were both Pagewood build. A quick check of the engine number will tell if that one was built in the Acacia Ridge assembly plant with a 350, and i'm almost certain it won't be but still a remote possibility. Acacia Ridge only fitted about 35 or so 350 engines to HQ's as the only regular production 350 powered cars they built were XW8's, thus their engine numbers only got to about QU00035. It still could be a dealer build though.

6cyl HQ van GVW was 4750lb, V8 was 4850lb. If the GVW was indeed 508xlb on the ADR plate that could nail it as a GMH 350 as a HQ 350 powered car was far heavier than a 308 powered car, especially an auto 350. From memory it was about 80kg or more.

With the whole chassis number I may be able to find the car, but i'll get onto Fres and see if I can get the owner's name. I also now know why I missed it, far nicer fruit to its left to distract me!

Here is a picture of the said Van:

Yeah Mate, that's the van. He was telling me something about having the numbers confirmed somewhere, and then it been valued at around $60k. I got talking to him at Wellington when I asked him if he was local because I was chasing a Drivers side wiper arm. ( mine had come off on the way) he was VERY reluctant to tell me exactly where he lived. Worried about people knowing where his van lives. From memory there was something different about the grille.

I just went looking, the first XW8 built at Acacia Ridge (in 1973) had engine number QU00002, so if this van is a 1972 Acacia Ridge assembly plant build it should have QU00001. However the fly in that ointment is there is a single HQ sedan assembled at Acacia Ridge in 1971 with a code showing it as a 350 (but no number recorded). Innuendo, is this one CHQ3x538B? If it is it should have a U engine code on the VIN plate.
