Me and my Sandman; found one!

Hello

Here are some pics of our new van, a little bit of work ahead of us here..

It is a plated 308, manual, black interior, XX7 build. Despite its body condition, it does have a couple of redeeming features; it would appear to be an accident free van, still has original nose cone radiator support panel, GTS guards, doors and tailgates, and I understand it only ever had two registered previous owners.

Apart from original seats, most of the sandman bits from the interior are long gone, but we will try our very best to restore this icon to its original state.

Thanks to the guys who helped out with contact details, it came from Melbourne, now in NZ

HQ Sandman = Great find. Some work there but not impossible.
Barbados Green also. Have you got all the tag details?

Yep full encouragement, it can be a long haul though. You might like to check out paint called 'Rust Bullet'. (I put a lengthy post on it in the paint and panel section a while back.) Once youv'e done all the cutting and welding you need, you hardly want any rust you may have missed to continue undettered. Rust Bullet does seem to do what it says it will. I think if a restorer is starting from where you are, its really very useful.

Thank you for the Rust Bullet link. We were just wondering what was the best approach on the rust, so will look into it. Thank you for your encouragement.
