New car advice

So I'm going to be buying a new car in the next 3 months thanks to a new job. I have been looking at carsales to see what's out there and since I trust everyone's judgement on mySandman I want to give you wonderful people an opportunity to suggest a car. However there are some strict criteria;

It must be;
New car
4 door
Not wagon or 4WD
Budget is $45k drive away

I wanted an SR5 but Mrs Blocker would drive it as well and she'll need a ladder to get in to one so that's out.
car is for city driving with the occasional regional trips around SA.

Im in the same boat i have to buy something before the end of June
am looking at the SR5 Hilux ute or the Colorado ute

I think the Calais V comes in at ~$45k. That would be my choice in that price range. Why cant it be a wagon?

I'd recommend a Kluger after owning the RX350.

But given how cheap XR6's are and how nice they are to drive i'd look there.

Mazda 6. Good for the city, reliable, good resale and they just look sleek. I'd normally recommend a Toyota but I reckon the style of the Mazda might keep Mrs Blocker happy. Happy wife, happy budget for Sandman restoration.

mrs vom has mazda 3. great car for the money. not ever carried out research in the 45k range. whichever way you go you will take a hiding on resale/trade in unless you go hilux or landcruiser etc

I would look at a kluger their a nice vehicle and seem hold their resale value well

First. New job Blocker? Are you staying home this time?
You want a SR5 so point out how Mrs Blocker that she can see through the traffic so much better sitting up high and won't be stuck looking up at the back of a SR5 in front.
I pick up the new Mitsi Triton tomorrow, about that price, this is the 4th in a row for me. I keep going back because I can't kill them despite my best attempts.
